To provide participants with a greater awareness and understanding of the threat posed by fire and raise awareness in identifying hazards in the work place and at home, including a basic knowledge of fire fighting equipment.

• Identify fire hazards in the workplace and home
• Describe the fire safety responsibilities as laid out in legislation including; 1997 Fire Precautions Regulations / Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order (April 2006)
• Describe how fires can start spread and be controlled.
• Undertake a basic fire risk assessment
• Distinguish between the different types of fire extinguisher
• Understand the importance of having emergency procedures
